The Miller Office Building
Jackson, Michigan

Challenges:

One of the most challenging aspects of renovating this space was doing so while other tenants in the building were using their offices.  Their daily activities could not be hindered or interrupted. Because there is a shared heating and cooling system, things like the spread of construction dust, paint smell, and noise needed to be handled safely and with courtesy to the other people in the building.  The adjoining spaces house the Social Security Administration and the IRS, so security was a factor.

Solutions:

Keystone knew and accounted for every person who entered the area, and workers were allowed only in the area where they were working, not in existing office spaces.  Filters were put in place throughout the heating and cooling system so that dust and fumes did not travel to other areas of the building.  Low VOC paint was used as well.
